Our Story

Our story began in Northern Virginia in 1984, when INTEC Group was founded as one of the first firms to combine architecture and interior design as an integrated concept. At that time, we focused primarily on faith-based architecture and while that’s still considered one of our “niche” sectors, the diversification of our expertise is what has fueled our success over the past four decades.

Fast forward to 2010, and our narrative expands with the opening of the Charlotte studio, infusing our story with expertise in hospitality, mixed-use, and multi-family. In 2015, we established a presence in Washington, DC to better serve our local clientele. With the DC office focusing primarily on asset services and workplace design, our acquisition of John Cooney Associate Architects (JCA) in 2016 further elevated our focus sectors, adding a robust retail talent base. And as the world grappled with the global pandemic, we found opportunity amidst adversity, to share our growing knowledge in the life science sector.

Today, as a transdisciplinary and highly collaborative firm, our architects and designers are well-versed in a variety of sectors, providing bespoke design and holistic solutions to our clients. Our approach has evolved to include innovative concepts, brand strategy, research, and wellness initiatives which help us deliver on each client’s unique vision. Our collective passion lies in the place where design meets life, shaping how our clients work, connect and find fulfillment. We’re firm believers that exceptional design goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about creating environments that enhance the human experience. And we’re dedicated to making that happen for (at least) another 40 years.

Our Vision:

To enhance the human condition.

At INTEC Group, we enhance the human condition by shaping the environments in which people live, work, and interact – we create buildings and spaces that are not only functional but also nurturing and inspiring. Architecture provides a framework which can influence our physical, psychological, and social well-being in meaningful ways so, simply stated, enhancing the human condition is about making life better for all.

Our Mission:

To create an inspiring experience through the built environment that uniquely enhances the lives of our clients, our employees, and our community.

Our Values

Our “P.A.L.” values describe, at the most fundamental level, what we stand for. They’re the DNA of our company – shaping our culture, influencing who we are, what we do, and even who we hire. And our motivator is to positively impact those around us by consistently living out these values through our everyday actions.

Professionalism

We Bring Our A-Game

We Bring Our A-Game

Professionalism represents behaviors that reflect a commitment to excellence, both inside and out. Our culture of accountability, reliability, confidence, respect, and trust means we always strive to bring our A-game. We also take pride in being warm and approachable. We’re a fist bump, not a handshake—symbolizing our commitment to a work environment that’s casual, friendly, and inclusive.

AUTHENTICITY

We're Human

We're Human

Authenticity means we’re genuine, transparent, and human. We encourage our team to keep it real—owning their mistakes, being consistent yet vulnerable, and conducting themselves with honesty and integrity. We also recognize the importance of celebrating our differences and fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and safe.

LEADERSHIP

We Walk the Walk

We Walk the Walk

Leadership extends beyond titles and positions and exemplifies actions over words; it’s about promoting a supportive team culture. Everyone on the team, regardless of position or tenure, can motivate, empathize, and proactively lead by walking the walk with positivity and gratitude.
